About the Club

We are one of London’s most active climbing and mountaineering clubs, offering a friendly forum for meeting keen participants at all levels of the sport.

Climbing wall meets

The club meets every Wednesday in London at Mile End Climbing Wall to climb and socialise – staff at reception know many NLMC members and will be happy to point us out.

After climbing ends at 9:30pm, we go to the Palm Tree pub, about two minutes away from the climbing wall in Mile End Park. Once again, the NLMC is well known there, and the staff will be able to point you in our direction.

We also climb regularly at the Castle and the Arch on a more informal basis (usually Mondays) – contact the New Members' Secretary for details.

Trips away

You are welcome to try the club out at any of our formal social events – check our meets list and email groups - we have a couple of new members' meets every year. Additionally, groups of members go away almost every weekend to climb all over the country. These trips are arranged informally at the club’s sessions on Monday or Wednesday and are an excellent way of finding out more about the club.

The club does have some formal events, including a BBQ on Treen beach (Cornwall) over the Summer Solstice weekend and the annual dinner in the Autumn.

The club huts

The club is very lucky to own two huts in the Snowdonia National Park. The cottage is used exclusively by club members and their guests and is a regular venue for weekend trips away. The barn is available for hire for groups of up to 30 and is ideal for use by mountaineering clubs, universities, scouts, schools and colleges. More about our properties can be found in the huts section of this site.
